taking the bus from the train station to the castles
the view from the top while climbing up to the first castle
view from the top
i see a castle on a hill....
castle hohenschwangau, the home of king maximillian II. not my fav castle..it's very small, like a big three storey bungalow, and it's..yellow! castles arent meant to be yellow!
the beautiful lake...it's...BREATHTAKING!!
swans!!!
jumping against the beautiful backdrop
taking the horse carriage up to the castle, otherwise it would be a 45 mins uphill walk. pretty expensive! 10 euros for 2 people!
the horse has no concept of toilet control, peed and shit as and when he liked. everywhere you see piles of horse shit. we actually had to stop a couple of times along the way and let the horse does his business before we can move on. i have no idea how the horseman knows when to stop.
me and the big horseys
the second and more beautiful castle that we went to, castle neuschwanstein (cant stand all these german names, long and unpronounceable!). it was built by king ludwig, maximillian's son. he died before it was completed..what a pity.. it was opened to the public a few weeks
waiting to go into the castle for the guided tour. you cant go in by yourself. this castle is much more ostentatious in its design and decor, and nicer too! cos it's white! haha.
acting stupid on the path leading to mary's bridge. mary is king maximillian's wife.
many tourists already on the bridge, armed with their cameras
from the bridge, that was where we had a fantastic view of the castle!
a close up
returning back to munich for a good german meal. we decided to be kind to ourselves and went for atas dining! ok lar that's cos we could get half price for the main course there hahah. had some good munich beer too, very smooth!
the new town hall
the marian column in the middle of marienplatz. the sculpture of virgin mary is made of pure gold!
the englischer garden
