long weekend
the long long weekend has finally come to an end and it's back to school tmr again for me. a little tired out from yesterday and today's non stop events. to summarise: had dinner with family last night at marina square -> played mahjong at ck's place with terence, ant, william n samantha -> met up with davis, jon and andre and went to davis's place. spent the night chatting away till around 4am. today: met up with davis, andre and gang again. had lunch at seoul garden and went kbox till 7pm.
so as u can see, i am a little tired.
sigh. i just cant believe how evil some people can be. oh well, actually i can. havent i seen that before? still, it never ceases to disgust me. a total disregard for another's feelings. sometimes, the most repulsive part doesnt lie with the mistake itself; it is what you do after you realised you have committed the mistake.
so, to the one in crisis: CHEER up and be a wise old man. we are all here for you...
to the one whose waist size is on the way to becoming 30 inches: a glass of water and an apple a day..
to the one whom i've been so hostile to recently: I am SO SO SO sorry. love love..

just life
a week has passed. been a week not so much full of updates. i'm usually busy, in the day, bombarded with lects, labs and tutorials. a typical day would to be waken up by my alarm clock at 8.30am, going back to sleep again n leave it snoozing, until 9.10am when i finally drag myself out of bed and make it for my 10am class. i would go for lect, and then have lunch with terence and ck, and if it's still early, we'll make our way back to hall first and then meet up at our next class later. the typical day will end at 6pm (8pm on tues).
soo exciting.
what to do. life is like that. better than hanging around and having nothing to do i guess.
met up with sean and terence last night. the initial plan was to go to walas but the queue was just too freaking long and moving at a snail's pace, so we went eski bar instead. nothing fantastic really. there are 2 areas, the main pub area where the temp is a-little-colder-than-aircon kind of cold, and the other is around 5 degress cel? thought the music was a tad too loud for my liking, found it quite a chore to converse. we talked and talked. i realised whenever the 3 of us get tgr, the topics abt our futures and what we're going to do next time are invariably brought up. sigh. i hate talking abt it, it only serves to remind me how lost i am..
"you were just lost for a while..i believe you would find your way home.."
we talked about bgr..and how practical girls are these days. haiya..we cant help it, can we? we cant help it that it matters whether the man has a car, whether he has a stable career to support the family next time, whether he has money, whether he has brains blah blah..everyone is materialistic, to a certain extent. who doesnt want a good life guaranteed..
we cant help it. it's just life.
that wasnt all. i met up with andre, davis, jon and kailyn at the balcony next. we managed to get this nice big sofa cum bed seat with loads of cushions. comfy comfy. it's a nice classy place. it's a good feeling just to be chilling with a few good friends eh..
happy chinese new year to all!

men and women
men and women
heard something on perfect 10 the other day and thought was rather funny. daniel ong was saying, he heard this couple quarrelling on a bus. they werent exactly screaming at each other at the top of their voices but they weren't exactly trying to make it a hush-hush affair too. so at the end of the arguement, the guy was saying,
"darling, there is a fact that you must agree with me on, that is men have better judgement than women."
and the woman replied,
"yes, i agree. that's why i married you and you married me."
hehehe. dont you think it's funny??
okay, lect in 30 mins' time. sigh.

yesterday and today
met up with andre last night and we had dinner at this new resturant called manhatten fish market at ps. it was okay. similar to fish and co. we had manhatten flaming platter, which is sth like fish and co's seafood platter. well..i still prefer fish and co actually..tastier in my opinion. then was supposed to go for eusoff's bash at phuture but we dragged and dragged and was waiting for davis until the clock went ticking away and i thought we should just forget abt it since the bash tic was only valid before 10pm. in the end we went mos instead (again!!!) because geraldine, andre's friend could get us in free through vip entrance. jon came along later and the few of us hang around the vip room, sipping free champagne while the guys are ogling at the hot babes. danced a little at smoove, then we left for supper at lau pa sa. by the time i got back, it was already 4.30am.
and today...i just had dinner with kenny, joel and daphne. it's really amusing to find parking lots with kenny. the last time we went marina, we went into the car park, drove around for 20 mins, couldnt find a lot, so we left and had to pay the entry fee. and after that, he drove into the SAME car park unknowingly, except from an entrance along another road. -_- today, he drove into the ps car park, made a wrong turning, and ended up exiting 30 secs after we just entered. -_-" rather dumb considering how long we queued to enter the car park. haiz..what can i say..haha..if i made any comment, i'll end up taking the bus haha.
nothing much. ate and chill. sigh. what exactly is fun? what is there to do??

"we sell our skills, not our bodies."
caught memoirs of a geisha with dear dear on its opening day. i thought it was rather nice, the kimonos, the sceneries, and the little chiyo melted my heart! was reading some of the comments about it on internet, and there were people describing the show as insipid, boring, and the characters 'implausible'. if i wasnt mistaken i would think those who said that were actually americans. they crititised zhang ziyi's lousy performance. honestly..i thought she was great. her acting kind of reminded me of zhou xun in perhaps love. subtle, no loud displays of emotions, rather it's her eyes and facial expressions that convey all the messages. you feel her pains. unspoken emotions. maybe westerners are not used to such quiet means of expression, you think so? they like to talk, and thrash it all out.
little chiyo: just a wish.."cant you tell that every step i have taken..is for you.."
what is life without you
anyway a few things that struck me weird abt the movie was: 1. why didnt the director get japanese actresses? afterall it's a movie about japan! so i was kpo enough to go n read the message boards and find out what people thought. apparently rob marshall opened up the auditions to all the asian countries but very few japanese actresses went because they couldnt speak english. and marshall didnt exactly made it a point that he MUST use japanese actresses. so i concluded that there are a few reasons why chinese actresses were used..
1. star power: rob marshall isnt exactly a very BIG name with americans, so he needed to borrow strength on actresses like zhang ziyi, gong li and michelle yeoh who are relatively more well known in america than most japanese actresses.
2. talent before race. it's all about..acting right?
3. chinese, japanese, koreans, thai...all the same...what is the difference?? haha. to most americans that is. actually it's quite difficult to differenciate isnt it, unless you hear them speak.
gong li is so beautiful..guys, you're gonna love her.
hatsumomo.."it's not for a geisha to feel.."
three beautiful women = trouble
girls fight
another thing that i didnt like abt the film..why must speak english?? so the answer i got was..cos the target audience is the english-speaking market. of course most would still prefer japanese dubbed. but i supposed..it's better to hear chinese speaking bad english in an english film than chinese speaking bad japanese in an english film right?? anyway the english wasnt THAT bad, just weird.
sayuri: "She paints her face to hide her face. Her eyes are deep water. It is not for Geisha to want. It is not for geisha to feel. Geisha is an artist of the floating world. She dances, she sings. She entertains you, whatever you want. The rest is shadows, the rest is secret. "
..and i insist that geishas are not prostitutes!! as my bf still believe so..to me, prositutes are women who have sex as a profession to earn money. but geishas are artists, they dance, they sing, they entertain. okok despite selling their mizuage (virginity)..but that's it mah.. you have sex ONCE for money means you're a prostitute meh?? anyway i think it's not so much for the money than..status. how one geisha stand amongst so many others. the price speaks of her desirability. ok lar i admit, maybe i'm just more inclined to believe in the romantic notions that geishas seem to symbolise: elegance, classy, beauty and fine taste.
Mameha: "Remember, Chiyo, geisha are not courtesans. And we are not wives. We sell our skills, not our bodies. We create another secret world, a place only of beauty. The very word "geisha" means artist and to be a geisha is to be judged as a moving work of art. "
finally..a place in his world.."i love you.."
haha so this is my long long entry on the film! doubt anyone will bother to read till here.. but i needed to pour our my thoughts. all in all...forget abt weird accents, forget abt races, think about pretty women, stunning views, resplendent costumes, brilliant acting..i still love the show.

lab didnt turn out as bad as i thought it would be..because for the first time, we could choose our lab partners!! so very very reluctantly, terence was 'forced' to be my partner cos ck already found one. hehehe..heyhey but i wasnt as bad as he thought i would be! i did my share of work okay.. it's not that i'm lazy..or irresponsible..i'm just simply not interested!! sigh. what do u want me to do about it?? ok so lab wasnt so bad, cos familiar faces were around me, and one hour was spent in the canteen having lunch..incubation period and waiting for the agarose gel to form.
the crazy scientist
hard at work..why is my bench so empty??

fun
fun
last night was fun. :)
met up with andre, davis, rui, jon and their respective dates at clarke quay. kiasu people like us decided to get the stamp from mos first before proceeding to lionel's farewell party, so that we wont be caught up in the long long queue later on. and also because our bash tics only allow us admission before 10pm, and we didnt think we could make it back to mos before that time. lallaa..
so after getting the stamps, jon drove us back to lu's place. there were 7 of us and barely enough space in the car, so poor andre teo had to sit in the boot!! hehehe..andre is just such a nice person to bully..:p and he is always a sport cos he doesnt mind being bullied!
next to lu's party. the food was great, the drinks were aplenty, there was a bartender hired to mix drinks for us! cool. i drank vodka lime, some sweet drink with midori, and something called orgasm. we had time to steal some time to play mahjong. has been a long time since i touched mj tiles. fun.
take care guy..you'll be missed..
mos was fun. the place was freaking crowded by the time we got there. entry to r&b section was blocked because it was apparently full house. had to wait stupidly at the tunnel connecting the trance/dance section to r&b to enter. guess what, at one point i entered the section thru the guys' toilet. haha..still remembered this guy calling out to me in an amused voice,"hey! this is the guys' toilet!". so first i was at r&b with terence, ant, william and some other friends. bumped into daming and jeremy, the pair of 'gays' who claimed they came with girls too, but i only saw the two of them..twice, once on the dance floor, and the 2nd time by the bar. then after that i decided to join the polo guys on the 2nd floor. went up, they opened bottles so we spent the night playing spastic drinking games and getting high. ok that was fun..and then we went off again to r&b to dance when the bottles were considerably empty.
finale: met bf and we had supper at our usual mee pok place.
it hurts me to see you hurt..
wish there was something i could do to take away your pain..:(

morals
Morals
what is right, what is wrong..sometimes you can't really use logic to differenciate between these two.
are emotions a better indicator for a course of action? if you end up hurting others, it's wrong. if you affect no one but yourself, it's right.
where exactly do you draw the line between putting others before yourself, and calling it freedom to pursue your own interests?
sigh, i guess there's never an easy way out.
just some ramblings..stimulated by things happening around me.
after a really loong and borring day yesterday, i am actually glad i've classes today. yes yes i ought to be thankful for the free time cos i predict from next mon onwards, things are going to get hectic. especially with disgusting 6 hours lab that are going to burn my wednesdays for this sem..and 7 hours of jap each week too.
did i mention i absolutely detest, loathe and hateeeee labs? some people think it's cool to be strutting around a laboratory in a lab coat, fiddling around with tubes of DNA and enzymes.. gives you the illusion that you're one of those smartie-pant, hot scientist from CSI Miami eh.. that's about the end of all the fun - the illusion i mean. note that i said illusion. cos reality is never like what they portray in dramas. i can fall asleep while waiting for stuff to get done cos the lab is air conditioned, and it's all warm and snugly in the lab coat (hehe)..
alright, enough of all the complaints. it's not good to have negative thoughts. bahs.
hmm it's a warm and sunny morning, a nice change! a good day ahead.. :)
what is right, what is wrong..sometimes you can't really use logic to differenciate between these two.

my fav pics
blogging
"it gave them the idea that their lives contained a worth that might be interesting to others."
quoted this from an article from today newspaper, discussing reality tv, why people like to watch them, and why people like to take part in it.
got me thinking abt blogging. it's the same thing isnt it - why people blog.
of course there are the most obvious reasons, such as it being a means to express how you feel, a documentation of your life, thoughts and lovely memories etc.
but for all bloggers, we know that a blog, no matter how private you want to make it seem, it is for a fact, public. open for all to read, open for all to comment.. you KNOW there will be people reading it, and you might even WANT people to read, because you want to know that your life 'contains a worth that might be interesting to others'..and that there are people who cares abt what is happening in your life...
btw..DO you like my new blogskin??? i think it has character..haha..

rain, peace and simplicity
it's a nice day to be at home, really. raining bitterly outside, it's nice just to be sitting here, listening to the fall of raindrops, listening to the sad sad songs playing on my com, and just enjoying the warmth of my room...
a moment of peace.
i've been feeling a little jaded recently. too many things happening, too many unwanted emotions.
我想生命中, 总少不了一些遗憾...
simplicity..i pray 2006 would be a year of simplicity. i can do with less complications.
met up with andre last night. we had dinner at coffee club, and i am proud to announce..i paid..just so that someone wont call me a ____*eh hem* again. :p it was enjoyable, although someone just couldnt stop piling insults on me. as if the chronic usage of 'bimbo' wasnt enough..fine fine..you're right, i'm not nice.
anyway it was a bit of a coincidence that we met apple and renkai there, having dessert at the same time, in the same restaurant as us. you guys are such a sweet couple..
watched family stone. surprisingly for a movie which was so cliche, that you can almost predict what was going to happen next, it was really nice. it was funny, and seeing how the family members relate to each other was just..so sweet..and heartwarming..
at midnight, i met james. we went mos, and we both agreed that even though mos was nice, for some inexplicable reason, we still prefer zouk. he flew from states, to hk, and now sg, and then he is leaving for the states again next fri..
你就像风一样, 来的快, 去的也快...总是来不及把你看清楚, 来不及说再见, 就已消失地无影无踪...
till the next time we meet again..
a moment of peace.

if
if blue-clad policemen and rasins,
if billy bomber, atomic bombs and fates,
if faber gardens and orion's belt..
if it ain't enough to warrant our friendship a 2nd chance
what more can i say...
for it takes two hands to clap
misinterpretations
misunderstandings
mistaken..
if it still matters now
i'm sorry
for it was never my intention
