hostility

is it true that as the city becomes more citified, the people become less and less friendly? in brisbane, everyone greets you with "how are you?"..and i really mean EVERYONE. shopping for 1 hour means i have to answer "fine, thank you." like 20 times. seriously. you can also sit on the car and wave to all the passer bys.."hey there! how are you doing!" and they will shout and wave back. waiting for the traffic light to turn green is socialising time with the passenger/driver next to you. when will you ever get that in sg?? singaporeans will just throw you the dirty look and think "this person siao eh". people in sydney are not that friendly here though. the spontaneity is still evident..but to a lesser degree.. this guy was waiting by the traffic lights with a windscreen cleaner in his hand. when our car stopped he came up and cleaned our windscreen! just like that! we didnt even make any indication that we want anything. well we are nice people so we paid him lor.. even though he made the windscreen even dirtier.. hah..

oh i've diverted from my topic again. as i was saying, the pace of life is significantly faster here. does that deteriorate the quality of service? hM..not exactly true also hor.. japan is advanced but they have fantastic service. it's in the culture.. it's innate.. some are artifical, trained, practiced...forced! ahha.. confused by myself. gonna go anyway.

sydney

after a long long long long drive that probably added up to 12 hours in total, we finally reached our destination!! it was such a great relief when we finally saw sights of the pretty city lights, cabs, people..civilisation! it felt like we went entering glittering world of new york city after travelling 1000 km of countryside, having passed through a few towns, saw beautiful sceneries of mountains, grasslands, ponies, cows, pigs, isolated houses.. blah blah.. staying at a friend's place, a cosy studio apartment. now you see how come i can afford to stay in aussie for so long, cos accomodation is free all the way.

sydney is so different from brisbane.. sydney is citied, brisbane has a very relaxed and slow pace of life.. would you rather stay in a bustling city, squeeze into a tiny apartment, have shopping malls by your feet..or would you rather stay in a big bungalow in the countryside, and enjoy an idyllic life.. i choose...the former!

bRr..

i wonder how people stay trim and fit in winter! in countries where climate is whole year round, how can anyone possibly stay skinny?? you tend to give all forms of exercise a miss because it's so cold...bRrr.. just wanna stay at home and bury yourself underneath warm sheets and never get out. meals become the highlights of the day..yes i feel as if i'm eating every moment of the day.. all meat and no exercise makes yiming a fat girl... BOO HOO HOO!! furthermore, the sun sets very early..6pm aussie time = as dark as sg's 10pm.

i've friends who say they want to migrate to a country with 4 seasons to stay put long term. but eh.. give me singapore anytime.. i still prefer summer whole year.. it really does save a lot of trouble you know??

driving down to sydney tmr with my bro and 2 of his friends. it's a 12 hours ride from brisbane! hope the trip goes well.. yay! so exciting!! sydney is more city than brisbane.. lala..

sigh wont be able to view my pics from my previous posts because the web hosting site seems to be down. so i'm using another one..

anyway my bro's friend told me the shops close at 1pm today..SO i set the alarm to 10am, woke up early just to shop..turns out.. the shops actually closed at 5pm la!! AIYO.. went queens street malls..10 mins walk from my bro's apartment. 2 rows of shopping complexes, which a broad walkway in the middle, with many cafes, benches for your tired feet and space for street performance. well it's pretty small..i finished the whole stretch in..2 hours? the pics below are the original size taken from my phone.. too lazy to resize them..
